Classic Mini Tour 4 Days / 3 Nights

Day 1 : Colombo – Kandy

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport and met by "Visit SL Travels" representatives. You leave Colombo in the morning and drive along busy highways into the interior of the island. In Pinnewela you will visit the elephant orphanage, where about eighty elephants are well looked after, which have been found throughout the country abandoned by their herd and brought there. You can watch milk feeding for baby jumbos and the daily bath in the nearby river.

After this you will reach, the old royal city of Kandy, beautifully nestled between green hills. In Kandy, you will visit the temple of the tooth relic, which is the holiest shrine in Sri Lanka, where the tooth relic of Lord Buddha is highly venerated.

 

In the evening you'll have the opportunity to see a dance performance, where you will see the famous Kandyan dances, as well as up-country and devil dances.

Day 2 : Dambulla - Sigiriya

 

After breakfast visit the world famous Botanical Garden in Peradeniya. The park dates back to 1371 under the reign of king Vikrama Bahu III when he held court here. The English put the cornerstone of the present garden in 1821. Here will find a very large variety of orchids, palms, bushes, as well as tropical plants and flowers of all type.

Then you will leave Kandy and will proceed to the north. Along the road you will see paddy fields, coconut groves, rubber and spice gardens and plantations. You will stop at one of the spice gardens and there you can see a lot of spice plants, bushes and plants cropping spices. After this visit you will ascend for a visit the Dambulla cave temple. This temple complex consists of five separate caverns with numerous statues of the Buddha and Hindu deities.

Overnight in Sigiriya.

Day 3 : Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa

 

After breakfast you will visit the Sigiriya rock. This impressive monolith which rises 200 meters out of the jungle has been transformed in the 5th Century by king Kashyapa into a fortress and became his capital. Here you will see the frescoes of the Sigiriya Maidens.

In the afternoon you will drive to Polonnaruwa for the visit of the well preserved remains of the city which has been the capital in Sri Lanka from the 11th to the 13th Century. You will see the excavations: Temples, Dagobas, the royal palace, the royal library, ect.

Overnight in Sigiriya.

Day 4 : Anuradhapura - Colombo

 

After breakfast you leave to Anuradhapura in order to visit the ancient 1st capital of Sri Lanka. You will see some of the most famous as well as the tallest Dagoba of Sri Lanka, remains from palaces, temples, monasteries, ceremonial baths and the temple of the holy Bo-tree.

After the visit of Anuradhapura you leave for Colombo, on the way you pass paddy fields and coconut plantations. You will reach Colombo or the airport in the evening.

Day 1 : Negombo

Be met at airport by guide. Transfer to a beach hotel in Negambo , visit a fishing village or at leisure in the beach . Overnight stay in Negambo.

Day 2 : Sigiriya - Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage

 

After breakfast proceed to Sigiriya - en route take a short break at Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. At this orphanage you will find elephants of all ages that have been abandoned and the unique feature is that you feed the baby elephants with milk bottles during the feeding times. After lunch visit the Rock Fortress of Sigiriya which tells a tale of power, intrigue and tragedy.

Day 3 : Anuradhapura - Isurumuniya Rock Temple

 

Leave for Anuradhapura after breakfast. First Capital of Sri Lanka in the 3 rd Century BC. Declared a World Heritage Site.Visit Sri Maha Bodhi, the oldest historically documented tree in the world, the Brazen Palace , Dagobas, Ruwanwelisaya, Abeygiri & Jetawana Monasteries, finely preserved rock-cut statues of Lord Buddha and ruins of palaces, Isurumuniya rock temple.

Day 4 : Kandy - Dambulla

 

Leave for Kandy via Dambulla. See the Golden Rock, a cave temple which dates back to the 1 st Century.BC. From Dambulla drive to Matale to visit a spice garden. In Kandy , visit the Temple of the Tooth. View a cultural dance.

Dinner and overnight at Kandy.

Day 5 : Peradeniya Botanical Gardens

After early breakfast, Leave for Colombo or the airport.

Enroute, visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens.

Leave for Sigiriya,a 650 feet high rock fortress in the sky, a masterpiece of construction, artistry & irrigation. A world Heritage Site (5 th Century AD). The world famous fresco paintings of Heavenly maidens are housed in a cave. In the afternoon Take a jeep safari through the Kaudulla National Park , looking for elephants, deer, peacocks, boars, and many kinds of birds.

Day 4 : Dambulla – Matale – Kandy

 

Leave for Kandy via Dambulla. The Golden Rock is a cave temple which dates back to the 1st Century .BC. Its rock ceiling is one large sweep of colorful frescoes which depict Buddhist mythology and the tales of the Buddha's previous births. The caves house the largest collection of Buddha statues in one place.

From Dambulla drive to Matale to visit a spice garden. In Kandy , visit the Temple of the Tooth. View a cultural dance in evening.

Day 5 : Kandy – Pinnawala

 

Kandy , last seat of the Sinhala Kings, is a very popular destination for visitors from home and abroad. After breakfast, Visit Pinnawela, the Elephant Orphanage, where elephants are cared for. Have an elephant ride; (if you wish) and see Elephant museum at Millennium Elephant Foundation .. Visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, with a fine collection of over 4000 species of exotic plants and overnight stay at Kandy.

Day 6 : Nuwara Eliya

 

After breakfast, Leave for Nuwara Eliya. Visit a tea factory en-route to see how the world's favorite drink is prepared. Nuwara Eliya resembles an old English town, complete with a lake, race track, well- kept lawns with hedges, an Anglican Church and an 18 hole golf course. Visit Hakgala Botanical Gardens, which houses an exotic collection of roses and ferns.

Day 7 : Airport - Colombo

Leave to Colombo or to the airport.

Day 1 : Colombo airport - Negombo

Meet your guide on arrival. Transfer to a beach hotel in Negombo, visit a fishing village or at leisure in the beach . Overnight stay in Negombo.

Day 2 : Sigiriya - Traditional village visit

 

After breakfast checkout from the hotel and leave to visit Sigiriya rock fortress, one of Sri Lanka's most fascinating UNESCO world heritage sites. No matter how often you climb to the summit of this one-time hilltop fortress of the maverick Sinhalese king, Kassapa, the pleasure barely diminishes because of the abandon spectacular views at the summit.

In afternoon, visit a traditional village in Habarana. This program is designed for you to experience the real traditional Sri Lankan rural village style, where you will travel in a Bullock cart to a rural village. This program is highly recommended as a "must do" activity to get feel the real Sri Lanka.

Day 3 : Dambulla - Kandy

 

After breakfast travel to Kandy another fascinating city of Sri Lanka. En route visit Dambulla cave temple, which contains more than 150 Statues of the Buddha. This was where a king of the 1st Century B.C. took refuge and latter converted them into a monastery

In Kandy visit temple of tooth. This temple, the most important one for The Sri Lankan Buddhists was built in the 16th Century A.D, solely for the purpose of housing the tooth relic. Observe the magnificent Architecture of that period and experience the tranquility of the atmosphere. In evening witness a spectacular Sri Lankan cultural show.

Day 4 : Pinnawala - Peradeniya – Kandy city tour

 

After breakfast travel to visit pinnawala elephant orphanage, The foster – home of elephants of different age and size feed, bathe, play together and even mate. These great animals have been found injured or left abandoned in the wilderness. Now they even breed in captivity.

And then visit peradeniya botanical garden, which was a pleasure garden of a Kandyan King of the 16th Century and later made in to a Botanical Garden during the British regime. This garden, one of the best in Asia is a place of beauty and site for bird watchers.

In evening do a city tour in Kandy. Overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 5 : Nuwara Eliya

 

After breakfast, travel deeper into the tea-growing hills and have the option to wind through the mountains with magnificent views. En-route to Nuwara Eliya you will visit Ramboda waterfall and a factory of the popular Sri Lankan Tea.

Arrive in Nuwara Eliya to be greeted by the fresh wintry atmosphere, the cottage type bungalows and the colonial air. ( Nuwara Eliya is also known as “Little England”)

Day 6 : Horton’s plains - Ella

 

Early in the morning travel to explore the Horton’s plains national park. Horton’s plains offers some excellent hikes in an unusual environment, characterized by forest patches, grasslands and some high-altitude vegetation. Highlights include the dramatic 880 metre drop at World's End and the beautiful Baker's Falls.

In afternoon travel to Ella for overnight stay.

Day 7 : Yala National Park

 

After breakfast you travel to Yala. En-route visit famous Ella gap and enjoy the most beautiful sceneries in the Sri Lanka highlands.

In afternoon, explore the Yala national wildlife park. Yala is one of Sri Lanka 's premier eco tourism destinations, where you can watch closely Leopard, Elephants and unique varieties of Birds.

Day 8 : Galle - Beach stay

 

Travel to a beach resort for your beach holiday. En-route visit Galle fort, which was built first in 1588 by the Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century.

Then visit a turtle hatchery in the southern cost. These sea turtle hatcheries are for the survival of sea turtles for the next generation.

In the afternoon, relax at your beach resort. Overnight stay at a beach resort.

Day 9 : Beach

 

Beach Stay with many choices of spending your time. Leisurely strolling on the Golden Beaches enthralled in the magical atmosphere.

Lazing on a Sun deck reading a book of you choice, and sipping a cool fresh tropical fruit drink of pine apple, Mango, Banana. Water skiing, Wind Surfing, Snorkeling or cutting through the choppy on a jet water scooter, whale watching trips and much more... (only if you wish, not included in the package price)

Day 10 : Beach - Airport

Leave Air port for Departure.
